ARC`TERYX flagship brings vancouver`s pacific northwest roots to beijing

Designboom_ ARC’TERYX, the luxury outfitter catered to outdoor-lovers and wilderness explorers, has brought its Vancouver roots to Beijing with a new flagship. The interiors have been designed by Still Young Architects who have recreated the dramatic landscapes, larger-than-life timber, and natural landforms of North America’s Pacific Northwest. With the completion of the new location and its sculptural interiors, the brand hopes to ignite a revived love for outdoor sports within the Chinese city’s district of Sanlitun.

Embracing the essence of Vancouver, the architects at Still Young pays homage to the region’s natural context with the ARC’TERYX Beijing flagship. The team reimagines the ancient trees of the Pacific Northwest through sculptural interior elements, while rugged, mountain-like textures are replicated along the store’s facade. Rock, wood, and tree elements infuse the space, mirroring mountain and forest landscapes. Dead trees transformed into glass-encased columns and irregular rock platforms resonate with the brand’s ethos of resilience and upward growth — all setting the tone for the spirit of the outdoors and embodying a dialogue with nature.

With the ARC’TERYX flagship interiors, Still Young draws from the urban fabric of Beijing’s Sanlitun district, integrating contemporary architectural elements as metal and concrete blend with rocky, organic textures. Wooden structures and mountain-shaped displays further evoke this natural atmosphere, inviting consumers to share in the brand’s adventurous spirit. The store offers a space for sharing sessions, immersing visitors in a woodland atmosphere, complete with timber piles, fabric sofas, and a cavern-shaped installation. This environment bridges the gap between the city and the spirit of the brand, offering an escape from Beijing to engage with the outdoor lifestyle.
