Guest Curator at the Venice Biennale



The St. Regis Venice and Artelier are seeking a "Guest Curator" for the inaugural St. Regis Venice Biennale Exhibition.

About the Exhibition:

The St. Regis Venice and Artelier are offering a freelance opportunity for a "Guest Curator" for "Cycle 1" of the St. Regis Venice Biennale Exhibition, which will open in May 2026 and continue until late 2027 (exact date to be confirmed). The exhibition will be held in key public areas of the hotel, in sync with the Venice Art Biennale. The Guest Curator will collaborate with Artelier art consultants and The St. Regis Venice team to develop a themed exhibition of international artists. Located on the Grand Canal, The St. Regis Venice merges its rich history with modern artistic interior design. Permanent works by prominent artists such as Ai Weiwei, Jaume Plensa, and Julian Opie are featured in the hotel. Since 1908, when Claude Monet resided there, The St. Regis Venice has been known as a "home for artists." Continuing this legacy, the hotel is launching a new art program in collaboration with Artelier.

About the Role:

The Guest Curator will creatively develop a themed exhibition inspired by the theme of the upcoming Venice Biennale. The exhibition will feature both high-profile names and emerging artists. The curator will be responsible for brokering artist and gallery loans, managing logistics, preparing curatorial texts, and overseeing the installation of a diverse exhibition route throughout the hotel's public spaces. They will also participate in the exhibition's event program and promote it through their professional network.


Support and Compensation:

Although the Guest Curator will be responsible for managing all aspects of the exhibition, they will be supported by Artelier's curatorial team and the in-house St. Regis operations teams.

A total fee of £47,500 is offered to cover the curatorial fee and exhibition fees, including logistics, installation, and insurance. A full breakdown of what is included and excluded can be found in the Application PDF.


Qualifications (Who Should Apply):

Applications are welcomed from practicing international curators with significant experience independently organizing exhibitions.

A curator affiliated with a gallery may also apply.

Curators based in Europe and the UK are especially encouraged to apply, and applicants should have existing experience and art networks in Europe.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in September 2025.
